Liverpool face competition from Lazio over the signature of Queens Park Rangers star Adel Taarabt.
The Morocco international has set the nPower Championship alight this season being named PFA Championship Player of the Year, scoring 19 goals from midfield and creating several more for his team mates. His performances have been the catalyst behind Rangers’ return to the Premier League as champions of the second tier and have inevitably gained attention from bigger clubs.
While rumours have linked Spanish giants Real Madrid to the 21-year-old, Liverpool are known to be definitely interested in adding the prodigious talent to their squad with a £10m bid in the offing according to caughtoffside.com. However, Italian daily Corriere dello Sport are claiming that Lazio have now thrown their hat into the ring and are preparing to at least match the offer from Anfield.
Taarabt has no doubt in his own ability having previously stated his desire to play for Barcelona while plying his trade in the England’s second division. He is also no stranger to controversy after claiming that he should have joined Arsenal while still on the books of arch-rivals Tottenham. Whatever his shortcomings as a diplomat, one thing is for certain, the boy can play. The question is, where will he be showcasing his skills next season?
