Roy Hodgson last night told Patrick Vieira he is talking rubbish. The former Arsenal and France player Patrick Vieira claimed English young players do not care about playing for their country.

But England boss Hodgson in preparation of tonight’s World Cup qualifier with San Marino at Wembley replied: “I haven’t seen it.

“I can only judge what I see and it never occurred to me that English players aren’t keen to play for their country.

“Certainly, since getting the job, I’ve not seen it.

“Even players with a lot of caps are very keen to play. I can’t agree with that opinion.
