English Premier League Preview Week 12

Chelsea vs. Liverpool; Since the Chelsea defeat to Man Utd and the controversy surrounding the match, Chelsea have not hit the heights and quality of performances that they were hitting earlier on in the season. In the confines of Stamford Bridge they will look to this game as a chance to get back to winning ways. Liverpool, under Brendan Rodgers, have shown that they are on the way to being a good team and have mastered possessing the ball, but have not turned that possession into wins. Chelsea get it right as they put in an emphatic performance.

Ali; 1-1 Draw.

Aston Villa. vs. Manchester United; typically a tricky fixture for United, but Sir Alex will be aware and will make sure there is no slippage. Villa will be up for the game, but United will be too experienced and too good, even with a “2nd tier ” team out. A comfortable United win.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur; One of the biggest games of the weekend, with two top 4 teams squaring off. The champions City have not come anywhere close to brilliance of last year and their seems to be growing rumors of dissension in the ranks. Spurs will want to get back to winning ways after a poor performance last week against Wigan which cost them all 3 points at home. Spurs will be looking for a win, like there last trip to Manchester.

Ali; Man City 1-0 win

Arsenal vs Fulham; A tough London derby for two teams who are struggling with there current form. Fulham snatched a point last week totally undeserved against Everton, while Arsenal have looked unconvincing in their last 3 league games. Their performance against Man Utd last week was hopefully the tipping point. Whichever teams shows up motivated and inspired will get the win. Arsenal win as they find just enough to get the result.

Reading. vs. Norwich City; Reading 3rd from bottom are still looking for their first win of the season, while Norwich find themselves undefeated in the last 3 games and have drawn themselves out of the relegation zone. Reading will get the win as they will be the hungrier of the two sides as Norwich will get caught resting on their laurels.

Everton vs Sunderland; Everton are having a fine season so far and were extremely unlucky not to get a win last week, conceding a goal and 2 points in the dying moments of the game against Fulham. Martin O’Neils Sunderland team are struggling to find some attacking form and to score goals. Everton will come inspired and enthusiastic and will prove to be too much for Sunderland. Comfortable win Everton.

Stoke City vs Queens Park Rangers; Stoke find themselves being drawn closer to the relegation zone, after not getting results while putting in good performances. QPR find themselves 2nd from with bottom with no wins to date. A must win game for both teams, but Stoke will prove too tough at home.

Ali; Everton 2-0 win

Wigan Athletic vs West Bromwich Albion; Wigan come into the game on the backs of well deserved win over Spurs last week. While West Brom are having their best season to date in the premier league. West Brom get the win, as Wigan will get caught in the hangover from celebrating last weeks win.

Southampton vs Swansea City; Southampton sit bottom of the league and are struggling on their return to the premiership will look upon this game as an opportunity to pick up points. Swansea come into the game off a good result over Chelsea but may get caught napping by an inspired Southampton team, as Swansea will put in a tepid performance on the backs of last weeks result.

Newcastle United. vs West Ham United; West Ham are having a good run in their return to the premier league with good results over Arsenal and Man City in the last month. However, Newcastle are solid team playing excellent football and will look at this as a good opportunity to pick up 3 points. However, with Andy Carroll and West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce having Newcastle links, that additional incentive can make for an interesting afternoon.
