The Champions are keen on regaining the title and bridging the gap in Europe by spending big to bring the talented forward to the blue part of Manchester.
Mancini who has always been in the shadow of Sir Alex Ferguson realizes that every top team must have at least 3 or 4 very good front men, and has not shy’d away from spending big in the transfer market. With a £40m opening gambit, this could escalate into the biggest transfer in English Premier League history if it all goes through.
They will of course face very stiff resistance from the reds who can not afford to lose their talismanic forward and arguably best player.
It would be a huge blow to the Liverpool side who have shown an improvement in form in recent games and were unlucky to come away with a loss against the Champions at their home ground.
However, City manager Roberto Mancini, who is under an enormous amount of pressure after all but faltering in Europe for the second year in a row, is now intent on reinforcing his position at the club, especially amid suggestions that he must win the title again to keep his job.
The next question would be, if Suarez were to join City, who would Mancini let go?
I think it would probably be Mario Balotelli, the problematic striker has found it hard finding playing time in Mancini’s starting lineup, combined with his late night binges, looks like he is out of favor and could possibly be tempted in a move in the opposite direction, despite recently stating that he wants to stay with at Eastlands.
With Liverpool also eyeing a move for Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, a Suarez deal with Theo in the fold may not sound that bad after all. Brendan Rodgers openly admits he does need 3 or 4 fresh faces to complete the jigsaw puzzle. Having purchased Suarez for £24m, this would show a huge profit for the club and if they could attract the right players to fit in to his system, Brendan Rodgers could be tempted. However, if all goes wrong, losing the newly branded Anfield idol combined with one of Liverpool’s poorest starts to a season, it could cost him more than he thinks, his job! The January window awaits.
