Nigel Adkins reflecting on his career with Southampton FC

In one of the first shocks of 2013, Southampton have sacked manager Nigel Adkins. The decision caused gasps of surprise in all corners and on the back of a decent week for the Saints where they were able to pick up 4 points in two very tough games and moved out of the relegation zone for the first time in a long while.

Adkins took over the club while they were languishing in England’s 3rd tier. They achieved two straight promotions to get to the Premiership and are currently involved in a decent EPL campaign, making him the most successful manager in Southampton’s history.

The move comes as a complete surprise as he had the backing of both players and fans alike, with lots of fans in outrage and full support of Adkins who has brought the club so far in such a short space of time.
