The German defender believes CR7 can win the Ballon d’Or this year if he wins the Champion’s League with Real Madrid.

The German defender Christoph Metzelder feels his former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo has every chance of winning the Ballon d’Or this year

The Madrid goalscorer came second in 2011 and 2012, but his former team-mate Christoph Metzelder reckons he can win the award this time.

“I believe that Cristiano Ronaldo – and not Messi – can win the Fifa Ballon d’Or if Real Madrid win the Champions League this season,” Metzelder told the German newspapers Bild.

“Cristiano is probably even more complete than Messi because of his incredible dynamics. A shot from 45 yards out is like a rocket with him.”

Metzelder played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Bernabeu in 2009-10 and the german has great memories of the Portuguese star.

Metzelder added “He might seem arrogant to the public, but I got to know him as a real friend. His life is all about football . He’s not interested in visiting clubs and bars.”

Ronaldo has been in outstanding form in 2012-13, scoring 31 goals in 30 Liga appearances.
