With the English Premier League winding down over the weekend, it is now time for end of season awards.
Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson was named the League Managers’ Association Manager of the Year after guiding his troops to a 20th title. The 71-year-old, who recently announced his resignation from United, walks away having won 38 trophies in a 26-year reign at Old Trafford.
In what was been perceived to be weakened Premier League, Sir Alex drove his team from day one on the backs of losing the title last year.
In the history of Man United teams under Sir Alex, the current squad has been far from his strongest, with the likes of neighbors Man City being far stronger. But as a testament to the character that Fergie has instilled in United, his side were relentless in pursuing the title and got there just rewards.
