However, the special one as coy as ever and charismatic in many of his statements pointed out that even though Chelsea had made an official offer for the United striker, that there were no players going in the other direction.
He was quick to mute any suggestions, Mata one of the players being mentioned, and I am sure he would not want to lose one of his talismans, especially if the ultimate object is to build on last season and see if they can regain their crown as premier league supremo.
Jose Mourinho in an interview earlier today,
“We want the player. We made the bid and now we have nothing more to say. Now it’s up to Manchester United,” says Chelsea manager
“I think that this situation is clear – nothing is a secret anymore,” he said.
“The official bid is just about a certain amount of money and doesn’t involve players.
“We want the player. We made the bid and now we have nothing more to say.
“Now it’s up to them and we respect their decision. I work with my players now, as I’ve done from day one.
Based on all the circumstances the likelihood of Rooney switching clubs seems very high now. How much is it going to hurt the Reds and David Moyes, well despite what many Man United fans may think, Rooney is part of the furniture and losing him could be a title decider. Especially if he is going to their immediate rivals, Manchester City are in the picture also, but a revived Chelsea, boosted with the return of their messiah with the additions he is making could snatch the title away from Manchester. It definitely makes for an exciting transfer window.
Should Man United sell their forgotten hero? Will he leave for Mourinho? I would love to hear your thoughts.
