The former Portuguese international Deco has engaged in Mundo Deportivo. The opportunity for him to discuss his late career agitated and display preferences in the race for the Ballon d’Or.
Great player past including FC Porto, Barcelona and Chelsea, Deco ended his career late August, in a hurry.
If he ended his career, Deco is nonetheless an astute observer, as a former Portuguese and Barcelona, he was obliged to give his vision of the eternal duel between Lionel Messi and his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo, but for him, there is no debate. “For me, it is necessary to compare players of the same style but when you compare Messi to Cristiano, you choose by taste, aesthetics. Leo is pure magic. Cristiano is power. To me, they are not comparable.”
No comparable agreement, the fact remains that both players are in the race for the Ballon d’Or. The former Barca player surprises people by saying: “Iniesta deserves the Ballon d’Or. We can not compare to one player: Zidane. Andres is phenomenal. The problem is that Messi monopolise attention but for people in the field, Iniesta is huge.” Between the three monsters of the Liga, Deco has made his choice, even if it recognises that it will be hard for Iniesta to exist behind “the beasts that are Messi and Cristiano.”
