The talk of who are the best pair of strikers in the Premier League is an on going conversation and depending upon performances it pretty much changes every week.
The top performing pairs are Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney at Manchester United and the Manchester City duo of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo. This weekend all got on the scoreboard for the respective teams, except for the injured Van Persie.
But currently, City’s strike force of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo might just be the most effective at City and quite possibly the best partnership in the world. Their joint performance against Spurs this past weekend was devastating.
Aguero and Negredo are both so strong and hard-working and they bring people into play as well as score goals themselves. They now have 15 goals between them in the Premier League compared to 18 for Suarez and Sturridge, and 13 for Van Persie and Rooney.
When they have started for City, they have won five games. When they have been split up, City have only won twice.
Between them, Aguero and Negredo offer everything – pace in the channels and power in the air. And, crucially, they stay close to each other; a lot of the time they are both in the area. They both want to score goals and City break so quickly that it is difficult to stop them.
Aguero and Negredo, the best strikers in the Premier League.
